Ironweed Native Plant Nursery

INPN is a small, family-operated business located in south-central Kentucky. We come at this from a life-long love of botany, plant identification and plant ecology. My husband, Mike and myself have both worked for the Forest Service and understand land stewardship. We are also educators, having taught many an Intro. science course in college. Once asked, "What's your passion?" Without a doubt, it is fostering Environmental Health via plants, education and people.

"Goal Local" refers to an ongoing effort to obtain local source seed from which to grow our plants. To help ensure population diversity, we obtain seed from multiple locations within the Interior Low Plateaus Physiographic Province of Kentucky. All plants are nursery propagated and none are dug up or harvested from the wild. Seed sources are available upon request. If your project requires the exclusive use of local ecotype plants, we can ensure that. Please ask. There are other plant species at the nursery that are in quantities too small to list on the website. If there is something you are looking for that is not listed herein, feel free to contact us. Finally, we are always looking to improve. Your suggestions are welcome.

Visits to the nursery are by appointment.  Please email (info@ironweednursery.com) or call ahead (270.250.3587 or 270.384.1352).   Address: 114 Stults St., Columbia, KY 42728 This is a residence. The nursery is across the street, in a large lot behind the home catty corner to the residence. I generally meet folks at the residence, then walk across to the nursery. Also, see Driving Directions below.

Consultation services are available and we are happy to participate in various speaking engagements & sales events.   Happy planting! Alicia & Co.

"The plants we purchased from Ironweed Native Plant Nursery were much healthier than those we have seen elsewhere. This nursery is one of the few that guarantee its plants to be native. That is important to us in restoration work." ~Dr. G. Weddle, Director, Clay Hill Memorial Forest

"I have been gardening most of my life and have traveled to many nurseries. The plants that INPN has to offer are some of the healthiest and most unique that I have seen."
~Mary Nardin, President of the Gardeners Group who meet in Casey Co.

"I found the presentation on native plants to be well-done and inspiring and very informative.  In fact, I am requesting this presentation at our group to spread the word to more people." ~Aloma Dew, member of Cumberland Chapter Sierra Club Water Committee
